Caring for Our Caregivers
Grateful employees are thankful to donors for supporting their well-being
Every day, the caregivers and staff at Providence St. Jude Medical Center answer the call to serve others. At no time in recent history have they been tried and tested more than during the long and harrowing struggle with the pandemic. Despite the risks to themselves, they never wavered from their commitment to providing outstanding care and compassion.
Our generous donor community has long appreciated the work of our caregivers and has kindly donated to the Memorial Foundation’s Caregiver Assistance Fund. Set up in 2020, the fund is used for initiatives that show appreciation and support to our caregivers and staff, including:
Hey Jude Palooza — The medical center brings all caregivers together every three years to connect and celebrate our culture. For one special week in September this year, our colleagues attended one of the two-and-a-half-hour sessions held at the Brea Improv for fun, team building and to honor their contributions to the medical center’s success.
Comfort Kits — During COVID-19 surges, the hospital distributed more than 2,500 comfort kits to employees to express the community’s gratitude. Kits included an aromatherapy neck and shoulder heat wrap, #stjudestrong face mask, St. Jude medal and prayer card, tea, hand lotion and much more.
#stjudepride — Our caregivers are proud of taking care of our community and love to wear their pride for all to see. Donations to the Caregiver Assistance Fund were used to purchase #stjudepride items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts and masks for employees.
Overflowing gratitude
By supporting the Caregiver Assistance Fund, the Dhont Family Foundation, Jonathan and Marie Lau, and many other donors are showing their appreciation to our caregivers and staff.
Our employees are touched and grateful that donors care so much about their well-being. “Hey Jude Palooza was a fabulous, fun and very spirited event,” says Michaela Toney, MSN, oncology nurse navigator. “I would like to say thank you to our donors. Thank you for recognizing the importance of supporting caregiver morale and coming together to celebrate one another. Thank you for seeing the greatness in each caregiver at Providence St. Jude.”
We second that! Thank you to our loyal supporters for providing much-needed benefits to our caregivers who are working to keep our community safe and healthy!
