Stewart Shanfield, M.D., 2024 Philanthropy Physician Champion

Providence St. Jude Memorial Foundation proudly recognized Stewart Shanfield, M.D., as the 2024 Philanthropy Physician Champion. This honor celebrated his collaboration in furthering our mission through his engagement in philanthropy.

A respected clinical leader for four decades, Dr. Shanfield has held numerous leadership positions at Providence St. Jude Medical Center, including chair of surgery, chief of staff and chair of the Allied Health Professions Committee. His influence extends beyond the hospital walls in his roles as chair of the hospital board and Foundation board member.

A valued partner in philanthropy

As a member of the Dr. Ramiro Fernandez Physician Leadership Group, he’s played a crucial role in educating his colleagues on the benefits of philanthropic support and how to collaborate with the Foundation. Dr. Shanfield’s role within this collective platform underscores his lifelong commitment to providing excellent care for all patients.

Always willing to lend a hand, Dr. Shanfield served as the emcee for the Foundation’s Emeritus Physician Luncheon and has been a panelist at multiple philanthropy events. His organization of physician and donor groups for events has fostered meaningful connections and discussions about the future of health care.
