A new chapter for the Crosson Cancer Institute’s infusion center

In a pivotal step to enhance cancer care services, the Crosson Cancer Institute is expanding its infusion center. In a pivotal step to enhance cancer care services, the Crosson Cancer Institute is expanding its Virginia K. Crosson Infusion Center by 23%.

Fannie Hansen, executive director of oncology, Providence St. Jude Medical Center and Orange County/High Desert Service area, explains, “We started looking at this because our current capacity is getting stretched thin. In oncology, timely treatment is crucial. Delays, even if medically safe, can be extremely anxiety-provoking for patients. We’ve extended our hours to meet the need for now.”

The project will increase our current capacity and prepare us for the future. “One in five lives in Orange County will be affected by cancer,” Fannie says. “This expansion is necessary to meet the growing demand.” When complete, the newly enlarged infusion center will handle an additional 3,300 infusions per year for oncology, bone health, rheumatology and GI patients.

The expansion of the infusion center underscores the Crosson Cancer Institute’s dedication to its patients and the community. Philanthropy will be key to the success of this initiative.
