Philanthropy Powers Progress
Structural heart program delivers excellence to our community
In cardiovascular health, structural heart conditions are a spectrum of diseases and defects affecting the heart’s valves, walls and chambers. Advancements in technology have revolutionized the treatment landscape, offering patients more effective and less invasive options. At Providence St. Jude Medical Center, we’re proud to partner with our donors to provide our community with access to advanced care.
Thanks to philanthropy, our cardiac care program continues to build on its suite of leading-edge diagnostics and treatments. This allows our team of preeminent cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac interventionists and cardiac imaging specialists to best serve our patients.
“Donor support has an iterative impact,” says Eugene Byun, M.D., co-medical director of the cardiac cath lab. “Because philanthropy helped us build a state-of-the-art hybrid OR, we are ready for new innovations as they come along. With subsequent treatments, we are addressing significant structural heart issues with minimal invasiveness, reducing recovery times and allowing patients to return to their lives sooner.”
Providence St. Jude cardiologist Aidan R. Raney, M.D., agrees. “These types of advances represent a paradigm shift in cardiac care,” he emphasizes. “Cardiovascular programs are evolving, transitioning from open surgery to endovascular approaches done through the blood vessels rather than a large incision. By investing in our program, donors play a pivotal role in helping us push the boundaries of what’s possible.”
Providence St. Jude’s structural heart program will continue to redefine the standard of care, offering hope and healing to patients across the region. “Our partnership with our donors is truly a blessing for this community,” says Dr. Byun. “I’d like to say, ‘thank you very much,’ and let them know we couldn’t do this without them.”
